Speed Science Diagnostic™ — The Entry Point

Stop Guessing.
Start Measuring.

A 90-minute force-velocity profiling session that tells us exactly how your athlete's body produces power. The results determine whether they need more speed-focused or strength-focused training — so every session targets the right adaptation. It's the starting point for all Speed & Performance athletes.

Why it works

Most programs train everyone the same.
We train the deficit.

Parents get

Clarity

You know exactly what's limiting your athlete — Force Limited, Velocity Limited, or Balanced — and you have a written plan to address it before you leave.

Athletes get

Identity

"I'm a Velocity Deficit athlete." That's not a label — it's a direction. Athletes who understand their profile train with purpose, not just effort.

What's included

Everything in the Diagnostic

Full Speed Assessment

We test every physical quality that drives speed — from explosive power to running mechanics — and score each one against age-appropriate standards.

Athlete Profile

Your athlete leaves knowing exactly what type of speed athlete they are and what's holding them back — in plain language you can act on.

Personalized 4-Week Training Plan

A custom plan built around your athlete's specific results — what to train, how often, and in what order to see real improvement.

Slow-Motion Video Breakdown

We film your athlete's sprint and break it down frame by frame — showing exactly what their body is doing and what to fix.

Take-Home Report

A clear, visual report your athlete takes home the same day. No jargon — just their results, their profile, and their next steps.

The three profiles

Which athlete type is yours?

Every athlete falls into one of three categories. The diagnostic tells you which one — and gives you a plan built around it.

Power Builder

Needs to get stronger to get faster.

Your athlete's biggest opportunity is building more explosive power off the ground — especially in those first few steps out of the blocks or off the line.

Slow out of the blocks
Struggles to accelerate quickly
Needs more lower-body strength

Top-End Developer

Good starter — needs a higher top speed.

Your athlete gets off the line well but hits a ceiling before reaching full speed. The fix is improving their running mechanics and stride efficiency at high speeds.

Hits a speed ceiling mid-race
Stride isn't as efficient at top speed
Needs better running mechanics

All-Around Athlete

Strong foundation — ready to level up.

Your athlete is well-rounded with no single major weakness. Training focuses on raising their overall ceiling across the board before zeroing in on a specialty.

No single major weakness
Overall speed is the ceiling
Ready for advanced programming

The session

90 Minutes. Step by Step.

01

Check-In & Warm-Up

10 min

Parent and athlete arrive, check in, and get a quick overview of what we're doing and why. No surprises — we walk you through the whole session before we start.

02

Speed Testing

40 min

We run your athlete through a series of timed sprints, jumps, and movement tests. Each one tells us something specific about how they move and where their speed comes from.

03

Slow-Motion Video Review

20 min

We film your athlete's sprint and play it back in slow motion — on screen, together. You'll see exactly what their body is doing and what we're going to fix.

04

Athlete Profile

10 min

Based on the results, we tell you exactly what type of speed athlete your child is and what's holding them back — explained in plain language, not coach-speak.

05

Training Plan Walkthrough

10 min

We walk through their custom 4-week plan, explain the biggest thing to work on, and show you exactly how our program addresses it.

The technology

What We Measure — and Why It Matters

We use the full OVR Performance technology stack during every diagnostic. Three devices. Twelve data points. One complete picture of how your athlete produces speed.

Assessment protocol — why this order

1

OVR Jump

Warm-up + readiness screen

Lower injury risk. Primes the neuromuscular system and gives us RSI data before any maximal sprint exposure.

2

OVR Sprint

Maximal sprint battery

Run on a primed athlete — not a cold one. Cleaner data, lower hamstring risk, results that reflect actual trained state.

3

OVR Velocity

Strength & power output

Completes the Force-Velocity picture. Jump and sprint data already in hand — velocity confirms which side of the curve needs work.

OVR Jump

Plyometric Sensor — Step 1

Measures explosive leg power and how efficiently your athlete uses the ground. Run first — lower injury risk, neural primer, and readiness data before maximal sprinting.

in

Jump Height

Max height reached during the jump

s

Ground Contact Time

Time spent on the ground — shorter is more reactive

RSI

Reactive Strength Index

Jump height ÷ contact time — the key elasticity score

🏁

OVR Sprint

Timing Gates — Step 2

Captures exactly how fast your athlete runs — and where they slow down. Run after the jump battery so the athlete is fully primed for maximal effort.

s

Total Time

Full sprint from start to finish

s

Split Time

Speed at each gate — acceleration vs. top end

mph

Speed

Velocity between gates

OVR Velocity

Barbell Sensor — Step 3

Measures how much force and power your athlete produces during strength movements. Completes the Force-Velocity profile alongside jump and sprint data.

W

Peak Power

Maximum power output — the force side of the profile

m/s

Peak Velocity

Fastest bar speed — rate of force development

EAI

Elastic Acceleration Index

Peak velocity ÷ time to peak — how quickly speed is produced

OVR Connect

The platform behind all three devices

Every metric captured during your athlete's diagnostic is logged to OVR Connect — the same platform used by strength coaches and training facilities nationwide. One app. All three devices. No subscription. Your athlete's data is saved, trackable, and exportable from day one.

About OVR Connect ↗

How it all connects

Sprint data + jump data + power data = your athlete's Force-Velocity profile

The three devices work together. Sprint splits tell us where speed breaks down. RSI tells us how reactive the athlete is. Peak power tells us how much force they can produce. Together, they place your athlete on the Force-Velocity curve — and that's what determines their training plan.

Force Deficit

Needs more strength & power

Velocity Deficit

Needs more speed & elasticity

Balanced

Needs both in proportion
